WELCOME
Dear Colleagues,
We have a great pleasure to announce, once more, the Second Joint meeting of the Spanish and Finnish societies of Clinical Neurophysiology and the 30th “Valtakunnalliset KNF-päivät” that will take place virtually from Turku, Finland on the 10th and 11th of June, 2021. We warmly welcome all our Spanish and Finnish friends and colleagues working in the field of Clinical Neurophysiology to enjoy online our high level scientific program with a sparkling virtual get together with hopefully some views of early summer in Turku!
The scientific program includes plenary lectures along the lines of our original program, with parallel sessions for technicians. I am most thankful to all our speakers who have kindly promised to give their talks also in these virtual settings that are due to the still ongoing Covid 19 pandemic. There will be virtual rooms for posters and exhibition as well. The technical details are still in the planning phase, and will be announced on the congress website during spring. The main topics of the program cover a full range of different techniques of therapeutic neuromodulation, diagnosis of peripheral neuropathies and neuropathic pain, uncommon intraoperative monitoring techniques, novel diagnostic applications for seizure detection as well as sleep and vigilance studies. The state of practical implementation of the new European training requirements for specialists in Clinical Neurophysiology in Spain and Finland will also be presented to you during the conference.
All participants are encouraged to present free papers for poster sessions after peer review by the organizing committee. The deadline for abstract submission is the 15th of March, 2021
The congress venue is a specially constructed studio for the online live streams, situated in the new Medicina D building of the medical faculty at the Turku University Hospital campus area. For late Thursday afternoon and early evening, we are planning a special virtual welcome reception, with sparkling drinks hopefully provided by yourselves at home!
We all regret and admit that this novel format does not, by any means, fulfill the original idea of a pleasant scientific and social gathering of clinical neurophysiologists from our countries. However, it may serve as a way to provide the preplanned high-level scientific program for a larger audience than previously with less costs.
So, let’s make together a memorable first-ever computer-assisted meeting of our societies of clinical neurophysiology, combining high scientific quality with virtual connections between old and new friends along with many inspiring discussions!
The local organizing committee is looking forward to welcome you virtually to Turku in June 2021,
